How can you play with more than one player one Wifi in Mario Sports Mix?

My friends and I want to do 3 on 3 in Mario Sports Mix. Yet when we go to 3 on 3 on Wifi with someone, it makes the other 2 players CPU's. Anyone know how to make it so 3 players can play on the console for Wifi?
